Wazoson PS

At Wazoson Public School, we strive to build a learning community that provides students with equitable opportunities to reach their potential and develop into respectful, creative and knowledgeable community members who contribute to society.

At Wazoson Public School, we believe that students perform better in school when they:

Our staff members are committed to offering a well-planned curriculum that includes the following highlights:

• An emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy,
•  Fostering a school community with common values that build positive character and citizenship,
•  Programming responsive to the varying learning and socio-emotional needs, and reflective of the diverse linguistic and multiethnic community of learners,

Curriculum documents outline the knowledge and skills that students are expected to develop in each subject at each grade level. These documents can be found on the Ministry of Education website.

In an effort to support our environment, our school is engaged in a variety of environmental initiatives throughout the school year. A School Newsletter is e-mailed to families every Friday, and staff post information regarding class activities in their class email, website and/or Google Classroom.  

We offer a variety of clubs at Wazoson Public School - These are a few of the offerings in the 2023/2024 school year.

Recess Clubs

We have clubs running during our recess breaks.  All clubs are voluntary and can be a great way to meet new friends!  Please discuss with your child opportunities that might interest them.

Prayer Space

Students wishing to pray are supervised at  2:30 every day, during the transition from nutrition break to recess. 

Extended Day Program: Optional child care before and after school

Our school will operate an Extended Day Program for before and after school child care for students. The Extended Day Program operates from 7:00 a.m. to the start of school and from the end of school until 6:00 p.m. Parents may register their child for the morning, afternoon, or for both. 

The affordable and high-quality program will run on all school days and be available for select professional activity days.  

Transportation

The Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) is responsible for student transportation.

All students attending our school will be eligible for bussing to the temporary D.A. Moodie location. You will receive information about your bus route in late August on the OSTA website. 

Parents should sign up for an account in the OSTA Parent Portal to review bus routes, bus stop information and subscribe to notifications for information about delays and cancellations.
